I'm Brionna Lomax (please, call me Bri-Low) and I am one of the Experience Leaders for the Urban Education trip to Philadelphia,PA. I am a Junior Government and Politics Major and I absolutely love everything involving education. Running a new mentor organization on campus and working at the central office for DC Public Schools has really prepared me to work on Education Policy in the future and maybe I'll even run a school district one day. Preparation for this trip has been beyond exciting and as the days get closer my insides are just filled with fluttering happy butterflies! I'm so excited to bond with my team and community partners and I'm even more excited to help make a difference! #TeamPhilly
Morgan Reeves
My name is Morgan and I am the other Experience Leader for the Urban Education trip to Philly! I'm a senior Family Science Major and with the help of AB I've realized that I really want to work with kids after I graduate. Apart from education, I'm really interested in learning about other cultures. I also enjoy relaxing with a good book or when inspiration strikes, I like to write. I'm also an avid Maryland Basketball fan! Go Terps! My involvement in Alternative Breaks has allowed me to not only grow as a leader, but it has also helped me become more aware of the social issues that affect so many of us daily. I've had the opportunity to visit the Catawba Indian Nation Reservation in Rock Hill, South Carolina and the Muchin College Prep community in Chicago, Illinois twice, all focusing around the social issue of education. This will be my last trip with Alternative Breaks and I'm super exited to be going to Philly for one last education experience! I was recently invited into the Peace Corps and will be serving as a secondary english teacher. I'm hoping to use all of the skills and knowledge I gained over the past four years in AB during my time in Namibia and beyond.
James Cecil
My name is James Cecil and I am the Staff Advisor for Urban Education experience in Philly. I am a 2002 UMD alum and a Coordinator with Campus Recreation Services at Maryland. This will be my second ASB Urban Education experience and I am looking forward to viewing education in a new setting and system. I enjoy working with the children we meet in the schools in addition to the engagement of fellow Terps in the community. Education and student development are passions of mine and I can't wait to see the transformations that take place during this experience.
